Tour 1: Uncover the Secrets of History on the Pioneer Cemetery Tour

Step back in time with us on our first fascinating bus tour for 2025 of five pioneer cemeteries within the City of Hume. This tour is led by the knowledgeable members of the Broadmeadows Historical Society, who are enthusiastic about preserving and sharing the rich history of our local area.

The City of Hume is home to a diverse range of pioneer cemeteries, each with its own unique story and historical significance. On this tour, we will visit five notable cemeteries: Will Will Rook Cemetery, Scot’s Church, Mickleham Cemetery, Donnybrook Cemetery, and Bulla Cemetery. These cemeteries vary in size and the length of time they have been in use, offering a glimpse into different periods of our local history.

Our guides from the Broadmeadows Historical Society have extensive knowledge about these cemeteries and the people buried there. As we travel from one cemetery to the next, they will share captivating stories and historical insights about each site. You will learn about the early settlers, their lives, and the challenges they faced. The guides will also recount personal stories of some of the individuals laid to rest in these cemeteries, bringing history to life in a way that is both engaging and informative.

This tour is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the past and gain a deeper understanding of the history of the City of Hume. Whether you are a history buff or simply curious about the stories of those who came before us, this tour promises to be an enriching and memorable experience.
